Exactly How to "Do You"

We hear the phrase “do you” thrown around a lot: “I don’t know about her, but I’m gonna do me,” “Girl, forget him, just do you.”

While this sentiment brings feelings of momentary empowerment, what does it actually mean? How exactly do you “do you?” Do you even know “you” enough to do it justice? It’s time to put some action behind our words, Society Members – but how?

Well, let’s dive deep into the YOU that you're becoming. What does she want? How would she define herself? Take a moment to come up with a few answers…

Did you think about it? Perfect, what can you do to ensure these things take priority in your life? What habits do you need to pick up to make this aspirational self a reality?

Here’s an example: say you’ve decided that you want to increase your gratitude for life and the people around you, labeling yourself as a grateful person – that’s an amazing and fruitful goal to set for yourself! Now, how are you going to ensure you accomplish and implement it into this new “you?”

Here are a few actions you can take:

  • Filling the pages of your gratitude journal each day.

  • Scheduling time to do the things that bring you joy.

  • Communicating your thankfulness often, with your friends, family, the barista you see each morning, the mailman…anyone you can think of!

Apply this same breakdown to your own goals – trust us, we know it’s a lot easier said than done! However, the more detailed and relentless you are about how and where you spend your energy, the closer you get to the core “you.” So much so, that you’ll never have to use the old “I’m just gonna do me” sentiment again; the people in your life will just know that anything you do is undeniably YOU.

Need a little help jumpstarting this new mindset? Our planners can help! Built for even the most detail-oriented queens, the Flamingo Society Planner has everything you need to discover exactly how to “do you.”
